The Society of Virtue Saves Christmas!

I had the pleasure to work on the "Society of Virtue - Christmas Special" as 3D Sets Supervisor.

The "Society of Virtue" is a satirical web series and YouTube channel that parodies comic book superhero teams. It features a group of dysfunctional, self-absorbed, and often inept heroes, such as Majestic and his team, who operate from the "Virtue Tower" to defend the fictional city of Megalopoulosville. The show mocks conventional tropes of superhero morality, focusing on absurdist humor, vanity, and the chaotic, ineffective nature of its characters.
The animation style is often crude or intentionally simplistic to enhance the comedic, low-budget feel, contrasting with high-stakes superhero narratives.

This special served as the basis for developing the production process for the second season. Despite the extremely small extremely small team, the focus was on producing in the shortest time and with the highest possible quality in a "simple" animation style (motion comic) already characteristic of the series.
In order to achieve a more cinematic feel, we started using several different camera angles during the same scene, and because of this, the sets became more important.

Thobias Daneluz, the main artist, would send me a sketch with the general idea of what the set should look like, along with some reference images from films that inspired him for the scene. I would then quickly model a 3D Set with props based on the style of the series and test the camera angles proposed in the storyboard.
The artists would then draw over these 3D Sets, adding details as needed, but without having to worry about getting the perspective right, while also being able to test camera angles and lenses, which would be very time-consuming without the support of 3D models.
Because we were a very small team, this optimization allowed the sets to be developed very quickly and with creative input from both myself and whoever was doing the final drawing, without requiring extremely detailed concept art that would take a lot of time to develop.

First test done for the show. Image 1 is the sketch with the general idea of what the set should look like, plus some reference images (2) from films that inspired the scene. Image 3 is the 3D set I created for the scene and number 4 the final drawing.
